This workshop may be added to your SAEM19 registration!
Workshop attendees should be prepared to undergo topical anesthesia and to be scoped with the device by fellow attendees during the small group live procedural practice portion of the workshop. This course will cover the indications, contraindications, and complications for the use of flexible endoscopes in airway management. The didactic portion of this workshop will discuss patient selection for the procedure, patient preparation with topical anesthesia, pharmacology, flexible endoscope mechanics, and best practices for introducing the scope and passing the endotracheal tube. The hands-on portion of the session will include practice using the endoscope on mannequins to review the workings of the scope, followed by live procedural practice on workshop participants after a live demonstration by presenters.
