Medical Student Advisor Program

Guidelines For Students

The virtual advisor program has been designed to facilitate the transition from medical school to your Emergency Medicine residency and career.  Through the newly designed Virtual Advisor Program designed by the SAEM Undergraduate Education Committee, you will be able to gain answers to your questions and even consult with your own "virtual" advisor to determine the best strategy for your career development.  A list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) with answers is available on the web page as well as an application for assignment to a volunteer advisor.

Communications between advisors and medical students should follow professional standards.  Mentors cannot guarantee special circumstances for their virtual advisees. Every attempt will be made to assign an appropriate volunteer advisor, however, if a problem should arise, the student may contact SAEM to have the problem addressed by members of the Undergraduate Education Committee.

Advisees enrolled in the program will be contacted in the future for the purpose of quality improvement and overall assessment of the program.
